Saw Pits first took form during the medieval period, literal holes dug out of the ground for the purpose of cutting trees using giant two-man saws.

While the seasoned top-sawyer had to fight against gravity to pull the saw back up each and every stroke, the junior sawyer had the dubious honor of being at the very bottom of this Man-Eating Pit.
